Hercules 2014

Well, Hercules has come and gone, dropping about 10-12 inches of snow here on the southeastern coast of Massachusetts.

Single digit temps and VERY cold wind chills made shoveling a bit on the chilly side!

I am hoping for sunlight, as the gray skies were not very photogenic!

But the juncos always are!

They looked so cold!

And even our sledders didn't last for long….just too cold!

Trying to capture the goldfinches made me wish I had the proper lens!

I know the pics are grainy, but just the communication with these two is priceless!

Stay warm!

  1. Wow, that's some snow! We have had sun the last 2 days and up to 48 in the day. It's 10:30 am and 44 so far. I do hope we get at least ONE snow here! :-) Enjoy the beautiful scenes and stay warm. ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

  2. WHOAH! You all are shivering as we are out here, but you have tons of snow! Oh dearest, be careful shoveling; I pulled my back out on Saturday, and all this week, I've been carefully resting!

We are in the -20 range with wind chill but no snow. Let's hope that we can get out of this cold snap soon! I always wonder how those darling little creatures survive the cold!

  4. It is FREEZING here too. We are also enjoying finches at the feeder. Birds are hard to photograh! You got some good ones.

I like your word 'reach' because it takes courage and in that thought i realized that 'courage' should be my word...then the irony of what I just thought struck me! I don't have the courage to say it WILL be my word...yes, I'm thinking it will be courage:)

    Happy reaching in 2014!

  7. Oh wow! Winter in New England brings back so many happy childhood memories :)
Gregory has been tracking the weather in Massachusetts this last week and I have to say, he's not impressed. I can't wait to see how he copes with his first Mass winter!

  9. Your pictures are fine, thanks for sharing....
We are in Southern California, many goldfinches decided to stay here. In fact, they line up on our outdoor lights and demand I turn on the fountain for a drink...
Stay warm, spring will come and thaw things out...
