Sunlight and Shadows

I like the crisp air of fall.
I like the smell of woodburning fireplaces. I love
snuggling up under a cozy throw at the end of an October day.

But it's the light that draws me in....

...the straggling rays

...reaching through the Maple and resting longingly on boughs....

...I can sense its urgency....

...its need to dance in the forest...

...its clutching grasp of spotlight on vines as they wrap upward and outward....

....a gentle kiss upon a tomato branch ....

...signifying an inevitable and sorrowful parting....

I watch with desire and with fear...

wanting to clutch the golden light to my heart....or fly away.

  1. Lovely, Monica!! We are back from Maine, and the light there was very special. The sky so clear. The air so crisp and clean. Everyone cherishing the beauty of the season before winter. Cheers, Loi

    1. So glad you had a nice time! After last winter I am not looking forward to snow! And last winter I was home for 8 weeks. I didn't have to worry about icy roads, black ice, clutching the steering wheel.....I get so nervous!

  7. Oh, how I used to love to swing. Wish I still had one like yours. I don't think we have any horizontal branches that would hold me now.

    1. My husband made it for me as a surprise. We have some VERY funny photos of my mom and dad VERY anxious to try it out. it needed to be raised, so I believe my dad's bottom swiped the ground. we had quite a chuckle, as did he.

  10. I don't know if I'm commenting in the right place for Stormy.... if there is a different area, I missed it. Sending prayers for him, I'll put him on our prayer chain. We have never had an animal, but why not? All God's creatures.:)

And I completely understand about the vet bill. At the beginning of 2013, our cat got very sick and we found out he had a heart defect that he was born with. All his life he compensated for it and we never knew until the very end.:( We spent $3500 and couldn't save him or even give him any "extra" time. It was really hard. We have several of his siblings too and they had to be checked too, at $500 each.

It is absolutely mind-boggling how much ill pets can cost. I'm sorry Stormy, you, and your family are going through this. I know how hard it is.

    Take care,
    E.
