I was on the J. Crew site early this morning and found 2 great bargains: The twisted cotton trench in Size 6 for 29.99...Wahooooo!!!! And...I picked up the Tuxedo chiffon tee in navy for 9.99 in a small. I already have it in hot pink and ivory and love the way it looks and fits.
Two great bargains to start my Wednesday...off to swimming lessons at the beach! Enjoy!
Happy Monday afternoon. The sun is actually shining here on the Southcoast of Massachusetts. A remarkable thing this summer. The weekend was a wash or washout I guess. Rain, thunder, lightning. On a BRIGHT note, I made a clamboil.
For those of you not from this area, you absolutely have to try one. After soaking the clams a few times in the sink, pour a beer and a cup of water into the bottom of the biggest steaming(or pasta) pot you have. Place the steaming basket in, and then start layering. Clams on the bottom, followed by potatoes, onions, sausage, and linguica. Bring to a boil over medium high heat, then turn down and steam until potatoes are fork tender.Add hot dogs to the top when the boil is almost done. Serve with cups of melted butter and broth. Absolutely to die for. Some people add crushed red pepper and garlic to the liquid for added flavor, I have never found the need. (Estimate 1 quart of clams per person.) We also wrapped single servings of cod and steamed them on top of everything with the hot dogs. Another option is to throw a piund of large shrimp on towards the end. I've tried it all, and it's so YUMMY!
I was looking through some pictures today, and came across this picture my husband took from the Azores last spring. He visited Sao Miguel with his dad and one of his brothers. This is just one of many photos that show how gorgeous the islands are. My father-in-law is on Sao Miguel right now. I would love to visit with my kids some day. We are a bit of a melting pot in our house...Irish, English, Portuguese, French Canadian. My Great-Grandparents came from Ireland, England and from Sao Miguel and Sao Jorge in the Azores, Portugal. My husbands great-grandparents came from Canada, England, and Sao Miguel. I would love to hear from anyone who has visited the Azores, or who has family from there.
I received my J. Crew Aurora sandals that I blogged about several days ago. They are as beautiful in real life. They fit true to size, but be sure to order up if you are a half size, as the 8 just fits. I fixed the flowers a bit, as they were a little squished, not too bad.
Have a wonderful day!
After 43 years on this Earth, and 13 years of marriage, I received the BEST surprise. I came home one afternoon and my husband had built me a swing and had hung it from my favorite Maple tree. You sit on the swing, back up, then let go...YAhoooooooo...swinging out over the hill is exhilarating. I LOVE it.
I bought the Aurora sandal by J. Crew while it was still on the 20% off sale. I have loved them, and got them for a steal. Now I hope they fit! I also picked up several Crewcuts bargains for my daughter, as it is still very warm here in September. We don't usually start with real fall clothes until mid-October. Then it comes fast! I also picked up a bargain plaid casual shirt for my brother for his b-day. He is a lawyer in New York City, 2nd year, and still works insane hours(including Father's Day!), and doesn't have much shopping time!
Stay tuned for a very exciting post...my husband made me the best surprise EVER!!!
Hi everyone. My husband and 5 year old daughter and 10 year old son traveled to our friend's house in St. Marys, Georgia this past week. We had a great time. The first few days it rained buckets...which was really no different from what we had been experiencing in Massachusetts for the month before that. The the sun came out! It was 80ish and very humid. It was very relaxing. The kids swam at least 3 times each day. We took walks and shopped, and checked out some of the local haunts. It was the kids first time flying. The trip down was great. Love those Jet Blue tv's! The ride home from Jacksonville to Boston was VERY bumpy. My son looked green for most of the flight...pretty much how I was feeling too, but didn't divulge. My daughter never even noticed. She'll be my roller coaster girl. She is definitely the daredevil of this family. As we were landing in Boston, the TAll Ships were just leaving...a gorgeous site from the air.
So now that I'm home, I've spent the better part of this week tackling my famous playroom project. It's one of those projects that triggers a million other projects, because you move things from here to there and back again. What a mess. I am slowly chunking away at it.
We just finished a yummy chicken piccata that I found on The Food Network. I took pics as I was cooking, and will try my best to post the recipe and pics later this week. (I made it for the first time several weeks ago for the next day's dinner, but DH sort of fell asleep and forgot to put it in the fridge for me...so we never did get to try it :(
So that's it for me right now...uncluttering the house, swimming lessons at the beach...spending time with my cutie pies...what's not to love about summer?
Vanessa at Thoughts Caught On a Web posted a fun picture exercise...open your 6th file, and 6th pic and talk about it!
This was in November of 2008, on my daughter's 5th birthday. We surprised her with Cheetah Girls tickets. She was so excited. It was a great concert. We had perfect seats. It was a memorable night. I was quite proud of my action shot!
