Here are a few pictures from "Nemo":
As the skies cleared...
Looking towards the garden
Upside down Junco :)
Hanging out in the Hydrangeas
Chilly Sparrow
The smaller apple tree split in half
Hurricane Sandy broke the left of this apple tree, Nemo took the right...no need for pruning!
A Junco tenement
View out the kitchen...we kept our food in a cooler, and in the snow here on the deck.
Through steam on the window.

Let's play school bus!
Sparkly
Hooray for sunshine
Lots of hanging out by flashlight
Some of us preserved battery power ...me...not so much:)
(Although I will take credit for the cowl neck I crocheted
for my daughter, and one for myself during the storm...)
Hope everyone is ok!

Goodness me and here we are whining because we had 4cm! I must say that, from a photographic point of view it all looks very picturesque but I wouldn't have wanted to be in the middle of it.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you are all okay - I hope that the birds are too.
We have a high of 1 at the moment and tomorrow it will be 0 - that's celsius of course...
Bye for now
Kirk
I hope you have a cuddly fire to sit by Kirk!
DeleteIt is so good to hear from you and know that you made it out alright...and especially that you got your power back. Ruling out all of the destruction, the photos are so very pretty. xo

DeleteSherri-thanks for checking on us! It is pretty, even through the destruction...although the spring clean-up will not be fun :(
Well, this will be a weekend to remember! Wow.
ReplyDeleteI love your humor, of the pruning of the apple tree!
Love the sparkle of that snow, I have seen that only it once like that in my life in Georgia, and it was magical.
Take care.
Love,
Kay
DeleteThe poor apple trees! I feel so bad for them. I hope they recover and produce, as the apples do a great job of keeping the deer down near the woods and away from our gardens!
Wow. Winter wonderland, but without power..., oh my. We got nothing here in NYC.
ReplyDeleteMaya @ Completely Coastal
DeleteThis must be so different for you Maya, not living by the coast anymore!
o-o-o-! Thank-you for sharing your winter wonderland 'post-cards'! I love the flashlight shots. very cute:0 I wondered how you were doing when I heard that you were getting dumped on! You are obviously looking on the 'sparkly' side and sharing its wonder! Thank-you again. Your 'let's play school-bus' made me smile:)

DeleteI did not venture out, as I still can't shovel, but it was fun snapping pictures from the house. With 2 brothers and 2 sisters, the 5 of us played a great game of school bus!!!
We had more snow than you, but you had the sustained high winds. So sorry to hear about your power. There is nothing worse than a freezing house. Glad the power was finally back on.
ReplyDeleteYou sure got a lot! Ours is half gone due to fog and rain!
DeleteI'm glad you survived the storm and have your power back again!!! The snow is so pretty....beautiful pics!!!!
ReplyDelete~Des
DeleteThanks Des.....it won't last for long, as the February sun is much brighter....it sure was pretty!
Looks like a good old fashioned blizzard was had by one and all. Glad i didn't have to sit through it without power. Gotta wonder about the ability of those little birds to get through even just the cold. I'm always amazed. Love your shimmery pics of sun and snow! Truly a whole different world.
ReplyDeleteLiz
Liz-Let's trade the beach for the sledding hill for a week?? :)
DeleteI'm glad to hear that you and your family are ok, not to mention that your power is back on! The photos are really so very beautiful. It does look like a true Winter Wonderland! :)
ReplyDelete
DeleteThanks FFM! Although, I think I am ready for a week (or 2 ) on a tropical island :)
I live in southern California so it is hard for me to picture (but you provided them) the amount of snow the east coast was under. And I have been complaining about being cold when it is in the 50s.
ReplyDeleteHope you are all dried out.
DeleteWe didn't get as much as many...but being so cold in the house without heat was the hardest! Glad it is over!
Those numbers and pictures are just insane!! Glad that you are staying warm over there!
ReplyDelete
DeleteThanks Carol! Nice and warm...cranking the heat!
Lovely photos, ND! Poor apple trees though. You were without power for a long time! I'm glad that you and your family came through okay!
ReplyDeleteThanks FB! We are okay, thanks!
DeleteThat is a long time to be without power! So happy for you that it's back on and you and your family were safe during the storm :)
ReplyDelete
DeleteYes, we were safe, thank you :) We are very grateful.
Oh wow! Well, first of all, your photos are stunning! But what a mess you had to live through. Though I think we got a little more snow up here, we didn't get those winds. I don't know of anyone who lost power up here. (We had our generator gassed up, just in case) The roads were cleared by Saturday morning. So, it didn't feel like a big deal around here, except for the fact I have never seen so much snow at once here!
ReplyDeleteGlad you got your power back by Sunday and that you stayed safe and sound!
Yes, we are fine...I wouldn't want to do it again soon! It wouldn't have been as bad if we could have gotten out to a restaurant or store....but our roads were bad...we made it though!
