Sunday Snow at Moonrise and an Update

Our first snowfall.
I took a walk while the moon was up.
It was so peaceful...and so cold.

The promise of blue skies and sunshine hung heavy like the snow from the tips of the branches.
The Christmas tree my husband and kids brought in from the woods pretends she has spread roots....

Our garden's namesake....

Our "front door" which faces sideways....

Our little street seems to go on forever....

A Cedar weeping...

Seems like just yesterday I was photographing a lush, bountiful garden from this same spot.

Now I look and dream. Dream of zinnias and pumpkins and warm summer breezes.
The entrance calls  to me in a ghostly voice that spins on the wind...

The bones of the greenhouse, stripped by the hurricane, frame out the lavender. We may need to
clear the heavy snow off today...otherwise the plants may sustain damage....

Around 7:15 and the sun hasn't risen off of the horizon....

Apple Trees laden with snow and lichens

Our other apple tree...in need of a big spring clean up due to heavy hurricane winds.

A garden fence becomes modern art.

Hoping our garlic, tucked in under its white blanket is safe....

A creative tomato cage....more modern sculpture....

Last spring's project enjoys its first winter.....

Time to head in for a warm drink...my fingers are numb.

As I write, the sun is up, the sky is a brilliant blue.
Enjoy a day of rest.
Peace.

    1. It's funny Michelle, we only had one small storm last winter.....that was a first! The kids really missed the snow, and were so excited! I am just glad it was vacation week and I didn't have to drive to work!

  4. Hi, Monica -

    1. Thanks Loi! It is so beautiful when it is newly fallen, I agree! I would love a snowman as well! The snow is very hard today...great for sledding...unfortunately not so great for molding a snowman. Maybe later if some melting happens.

A happy, healthy new year to you as well!!

  5. I'm absolutely mesmerized by your photographs. They are breathtaking. I find snow magical, maybe more so than most would, because I live in South Florida and am jumping for joy if it gets the slightest bit cold. I'm sure I'd feel differently if I had to deal with it for an extended time, but it sure makes for gorgeous scenery and some fun for the kids. Also, your colorful blog header in comparison to the white and gray images below makes for a beautiful and artistic contrast. Happy New Year!

    1. Thanks Liz! It's amazing how we appreciate one another's world! I look at the sandy beaches of Florida and long for the warm sand.....won't happen here until late June. As I grow older, I think a somewhat warmer climate may be in my future!

Thanks for the compliments on my photos...I do love photographing scenery....

      Happy New Year!
