Hmmmm...we thought...mystery plant..looks like a crookneck squash...but the stem looks odd....
Something took a little chunk from it...our enemy the groundhog perhaps....
Wow, this is definitely not a summer squash...maybe a hubbard?.....
After much research....we were WAY off base....it's a pumpkin.....
....but not just ANY pumpkin...a Big Max Pumpkin....you know those gigantic use a crane to hoist it into the nearest farm vehicle and drive to a fair where Wilbur and Charlotte might be hanging out kind of pumpkin....
We are VERY excited.
The kids think this is very cool. Me too. :)
It grew 3 inches in the last 2 days.
We'll keep you posted on Max's growth.
He promises to be one GIGANTIC dude.

Ahh pumpkins rock!
ReplyDelete...and roll....sounds like some guitar player I know.....
DeleteI'm with the kids: very cool! Can't wait to see this grow and grow and grow....maybe a county fair prize ahead?? :) Can you do a weekly update? We'll all adopt this one :)

DeleteI have dreams about this pumpkin! I measure it every day now. Yesterday no change, but we had 3 + inches of rain, so I think that's why we saw the 3 inches . Some people actually are obsessed with this, and hook up sugar drips!
I love going to the Topsfield Fair and viewing the giant pumpkin. They are never perfectly round, but wow, what a sight. Your guy is coming along nicely. Good luck!!
ReplyDeleteSounds like a great time! I will measure again tomorrow!
DeleteOh I have always wanted to go! Yes, I agree, they are never perfect! I'll keep you up to date in the side bar.Measure this afternoon and it was an inch larger!
ReplyDeleteHow exciting and fun to watch grow!!
ReplyDeleteI agree! Hope you are having lots of fun times before the kids go back! Looks like you have been :)
DeleteJust like James and the Giant Peach!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness....I hope it doesn't take over the whole garden!
