Creative Gift Wrap

We headed to our friends for dinner last night. We had an amazing homemade red sauce with meatballs and sausage, a simple green salad, and a few margeuritas. We also got to see their baby goats...sooo cute.

We brought them a little gold frame with a vintage postcard. I used a Whole Foods bag turned inside out with the handles cut off. I stamped a seahorse notecard (my signature card), and added some vintage seam binding. I like the look...how about you? My little contribution to Earth Day 2011.

Great View

We headed to Children's Hospital in Waltham today. It took about 2 hours...should have taken about 1hr. and 10 minutes. Traffic stinks. I could never commute into the city. My ride to work (a few towns over), is only about 15 minutes. My husband's is only 5 minutes!

My son made out perfectly at his appointment....so we stopped for a little lunch...and then drove through Boston. It was a pretty day...blue skies and all...but still chilly...52 degrees! The drive along the Charles River is breathtaking..so I took a few pictures with my cell.

I'm trying to get motivated to go for a walk..but the wind is killing me!

Beachy Keen Find...and Gluten-Free News

I found this lotion "Beachy" by Lilly Pulitzer at T.J.Maxx and fell in love. It has a beachy fresh coconuty, suntan lotion smell that makes you feel like you are on vacation. I will keep my eye out for more...at $7.99 each...a bargain.

In other news...my friend Lissa at Humble Pie has just started a new blog! It is called Keep it Simple, Keep It Fresh. She is an amazing blogger...now expanding on her expertise of Gluten-Free Cooking. She will be taking some of her fav recipes and converting them to Gluten Free. This is fabulous, due to our 7 year old daughter's recent diagnosis with Celiac Disease. I can't wait to try some of Lissa's yummy recipes.

Also, giving a shout out to Annemarie at Brunch at Saks
for her help this week in the Gluten Free world as well :) She also has a fabulous blog.

Vacation...Right Here in Town

We are all on school vacation this week...the 2 teachers and the 2 students! On Saturday morning, my daughter announced she wanted to fly a kite. So off we went to fly a kite. We headed down to the lighthouse 2 minutes away. The wind was whipping...the air....less than balmy...a mere 42 degrees. We had on long johns and coats and hoods....and very cold hands. The weather was nasty...but the kite flying...a BLAST! The views are enough to take your cares away, even on the days when you were hoping for spring breezes gently blowing through your hair.

It's 9:38 am and 54 degrees. The sun is popping out....might have to head out for some more kite flying :)

Squeaking Out Some Signs of Life...

I have been admiring everyone's gardening blogging. My garden is a little slow coming. I shoveled 3 inches of fast falling snow at 8 o'clock Thursday night so that my husband could pull into the driveway. It was gone by noon the next day...nothing to show for my valiant efforts. Today I admired my daffodils and irises showing me their efforts...and they are doing a fine job. Perhaps I will actually be able to show you a blossom sometime soon! I am off to concoct a cocktail...much needed after a frazzling week with a frazzling class. Happy Weekend.
