Tea or Coffee?

What people drink says a lot about them. I think. I have never been a coffee drinker. An occasional morning iced Dunkin Donuts on the way to work after I've been up too late with one of the kids..maybe. Never hot. Yuck. That would make me feel old too. Tea...hot? Nah. I just don't like hot drinks. I do enjoy iced tea, but unsweetened iced tea. Otherwise I may as well just have a Coke...which I do crave now and again (no artificial sweetner thank you).

We have an iced tea maker, and I make a pitcher every other day or so. Berry and Mango by Touch Organic are my two favorites. We actually pick up big boxes of 100 bags at TJ Maxx. Every time I make a pitcher it takes about 12 bags, so the large box is much more economical.

I pour a nice tall Tervis Tumbler full, and off to work I go.
So what's your favorite (non-alcoholic) drink? (We'll talk about the good stuff another time :)

Something We Can't Live Without

I love the Brita Pitcher...and now it's available in gorgeous colors as well! (Although we will keep our boring white because it doesn't truly need to be replaced.) We have cut back on using water bottles in a big way. It's amazing how much water a family of four can drink. So now, instead of heading to BJ's for the big 24 packs, I pour us each a Nalgene (BPA Free) and tuck it into our lunchbags. Good for us...good for the environment. It's a win, win deal. Bottoms Up!!

Safe Harbor

Do you have a place to go when you need to feel safe? A place that feels like home? You know, the place that brings the memories of childhood rushing forth at a tumultuous speed? I do. It's the harbor you see in these photos.

I grew up 2 min. up the road. I marched onto the bridge during Memorial Day parades, my brother and I played on the rocks by the shore while my mom sat in the car watching us. The village across the bridge is filled with quaint shops: books and jewelry, housewares and antiques. I spent many hours as a kid staring in store fronts, dreaming of adulthood and all of the treasures I would fill my home with.

It's the sort of place you can go anytime and feel at home. It wraps you up like a blanket and takes all of your cares away. My safe harbor.

I've Opened an Etsy Shop!

I have opened my very own Etsy shop...and I am so excited! I will be specializing in vintage china...but may be throwing other vintage items on from time to time! I have started with 5 items as I "learn the ropes"...but I will be adding a few more each day.

Take a peek,...and come back again y'all! (We really don't say that up here in Massachusetts :)

Seventh Generation Products for a Chemical Free Home

There are certain products that we tend to always buy for everyday chores and clean-ups. My go to products are from Seventh Generation:

Dish Soap: I LOVE this dish soap. Lavender Mint is my favorite scent. It reminds me of being in my garden, or of having my windows open on a spring day...fresh and clean. I use it to wash pots and pans, clean up a few quick dishes, and to wash my sinks.

Counter Spray: This multi-surface cleaner is fabulous. I use the lemongrass & thyme scent. It smells as if I have just cut up lemons and thyme for a yummy dinner.

Automatic Dishwasher Detergent: I DO NOT like smelly dishes, so Free & Clear is my "scent" of choice. Chlorine Free and Biodegradable. Now I don't rinse every drinking glass after I dishwash them!

Dishwasher Rinse Agent: Once again, Free & Clear. This takes the place of Jet Dri for spot free dishes. It i biodegradable and VOC free. My glasses sparkle!

I would love to try the laundry detergent in a free & clear; however, I haven't seen an HE version for my front loading machine.

I am looking for advice on a great natural toilet bowl cleaner, as our water leaves a green build up.

Have a great night!

Pottery Barn Coral...Fabulous!

We have been saving money to redo our bedroom...you know...get rid of antiquaited wallpaper, skim coat walls, paint, new flooring, new bedding. So I decided to pick some things up when I see bargains. I picked up the PB set for a steal, and had already picked up a down comforter on Ideeli earlier this year. Can't wait to pull it all together....eventually.
