Spring Fashion

So what do you think about the new styles for spring? My favorite blog, jcrewaficionada has been discussing the new J. Crew styles for spring. I really think the colors are workable. I'm not big on pale tones, but I really think the new spring arrivals have potential. It's all about how you style the individual pieces. I'm also quite partial to Gap's new hipslung khakis. Talk about looking comfortable!

As the cold days of winter begin to drag, I cannot help but think of Wentworth By the Sea in New Castle, New Hampshire. It has become a yearly staple of my family. The scenery is breathtaking, the hotel exquisite, the service top notch. Whether dropping in for a winter getaway, or languishing by one of the pools on a lazy July afternoon, we simply cannot resist.

The linens are sumptuous, the views picture perfect, and the dining never fails to please. We have been returning several times a year with our two young children. They get to swim in the indoor pool in the winter...the outdoor pool(s) in the spring and summer. There's a tennis court, golf steps away, and three restaurants ranging from right off your boat at the marina, to more formal and sophisticated....whatever your taste and necessity dictate.

A plus for shoppers...Kittery Outlets 10-15 minutes away. (But you may not want to leave!)

Sign up for email to find the best rates, as peak times are pricey.

A definite slice of heaven!

An Irish Country Village

I got hooked last year on Irish author Patrick Taylor and his stories about two doctors practicing in Ireland. The stories take us to Ballybucklebo where we meet Drs. Laverty and O'Reilly. One cannot help but get wrapped up in the lives of the villagers as they progress through a continuous flow of events that keep us engaged from first word to last. Taylor has the ability to conjure vivid images with his detailed depiction of our newly met friends. This series is worth reading...and sharing with a friend. I cannot help but anxiously await the next...and the next...I'd love to hear from you if you've read any of the books!

Reality TV...Better Than a Hot Bath

I'm sitting here watching Biggest Loser. Last night I watched The Bachelor. I will also watch American Idol. When the Red Sox aren't playing, I get a little depressed. Reality TV gives me a sneak peek into other peoples lives without having any commitments. I don't have to buy them b-day gifts, make nice with them at work, pack their lunches, or change their litter boxes. So when the lunches are packed, clothes laid out for school, and kids are asleep...I snuggle up in my down blanket and become a voyeur in someone else's world. (Don't get me wrong, Discovery, CNN, Fox News, HGTV, and many others are on my list. ) But for the moment, I'm the fly on the wall. Not a bad gig.

Healthy Kids...and Parents

My husband and I are deep into our annual New Year's "Let's Get Fit" phase. This time though we are trying to make real changes that last. Oprah had Dr. Oz on talking about what to eat...what not to eat...etc...I've been reading The Healthiest Kid in the Neighborhood by William Sears, Martha Sears, James Sears, and Robert Sears (the whole family). I 've found the book to be an easy read, and it is packed with useful, doable tips. Give it a read.

Any good tips for eating economically when you are trying to eat organic foods?

BIG Designer Savings

I have been a bit obsessed lately at signing up for all of the "invitation only" designer shopping sites like: www.hautelook.com (free sign up), www.gilt.com, www.ideeli.com, www.ruelala.com, and regentssecret.com...all which need invites from a member. I would be glad to invite you to any or all...but BEWARE, you and your friends will be hooked...not to mention, well-dressed!
